Dáil Éireann - Volume 526 - 22 November, 2000 Written Answers. - Consumer Association. Mr. Noonan Mr. Noonan 140. Mr. Noonan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the Consumer Association of Ireland is the only independent consumer association in the EU not to receive any form of State funding; if she will consider payment of a grant-in-aid to the association; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23650/00] Mr. T. Kitt Mr. T. Kitt Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (Mr. T. Kitt): In my reply to a question from Deputy Stanton last May, I indicated that the Consumers' Association of Ireland had made a submission for funding two years ago to the Minister for Finance, which was supported by my Department once my officials were informed about it. While the application was not successful on that occasion, should the CAI now decide to make a fresh submission for funding to the Minister for Finance, the support of my Department would be forthcoming once again in relation to it.
