394. Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason there are no laboratories for students in Limerick university studying electronics; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26316/00]

Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods): The department of electronics and computer engineering in Limerick university has 2700 sq. metres of laboratories for undergraduate and postgraduate students. This comprises 38 laboratories of varying sizes. My Department is aware that the college is also planning the conversion of further space for additional electronics laboratories.
