303. Mr. Kelleher asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the situation regarding the provision of library facilities in Bishopstown, Cork; when he envisages that work will be completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26688/00]

Minister for the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Dempsey): The provision of a branch library in Bishopstown has been approved in principle and is included in the library capital expenditure programme for 1999-2002.

The local authority has submitted stage 2 proposals for this project covering detailed costs and design. My Department has sought further additional information in relation to the documentation submitted and on receipt of this the project will be considered for advancement to tender stage.
