168. Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he will publish the full report of the Ballycotton tragedy which [643] occurred in 1990; and if he will make the report available to families of the victims. [26644/00]

Mr. Fahey Mr. Fahey

Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources (Mr. Fahey): A full formal investigation into this tragic accident was carried out by a District Justice with two nautical assessors under section 466 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894. The report of this formal investigation was published on 17 July 1991 and copies were made available at that time to the families of the victims.
