173. Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Defence the number of military police personnel within the Defence Forces; the number attached to each army barracks; if these numbers have decreased over the past five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26029/00]

Minister for Defence (Mr. M. Smith): It is not the policy to disclose the number of military personnel located at any particular military post or barracks.

The current strength of the Military Police Corps and the corresponding strength in 1995 is shown in the following table:
