Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the number of legal actions entered into by the Department within the last 12 months; the number that are either successful, failed or ongoing; the total cost of these actions; the number of barristers employed; and the amount of money given to each barrister. Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation (Dr. McDaid): My Department did not initiate any legal actions in the past 12 months.

One case where I was named as a co-respondent in proceedings against another Minister was [1269] referred to the Attorney General's and the Chief State Solicitor's Offices in the normal way.
