Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. O'Donoghue): I am informed by the Garda authorities that on 14 April 2000 a person was convicted at Cappoquin District Court for [897] offences involving assault under sections 2 and 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences against the Person Act, 1997, which were the subject matter of correspondence with me.

As court proceedings in this case have not yet been concluded, it would not be appropriate for me to comment further at this time.
