439. Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science if a replacement escort has yet been appointed to assist a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny on the school bus. [17997/00]

Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods): I am aware of the pupil to whom the Deputy refers.

The school in question had great difficulty finding a suitable person to act as an escort on the transport service on which this pupil travels. However, I understand that the school authorities are now in receipt of a number of applications for this position and are in the process of selecting a suitable escort for this transport service.
