218. Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the plans he has to appoint an ombudsman to deal with disputes in relation to pensions. [17362/00]

Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs (Mr. D. Ahern): I am currently considering a report from the Pensions Board on the subject of a pensions ombudsman and I expect to [1040] provide for such an ombudsman in the Pensions Bill which I will publish later this year.
