Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods): An application for a replacement school building on a new site for Riverstown national school has been received in my Department. This application is being examined in the planning section of my Department to determine the school's long-term accommodation requirements in the context of all relevant factors, including enrolment and demographic trends.
Any request by the board of management for temporary accommodation to cater for the school's immediate needs will be considered favourably pending a decision on permanent accommodation.
I have asked that the matter be concluded as speedily as possible.
