Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the proposals, if any, she has for 2000 in regard to St. John's Castle, Dungarvan, County Waterford; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6694/00] Miss de Valera Miss de Valera 1615 Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands (Miss de Valera): Works have commenced at St. John's Castle, Dungarvan. These works include the restoration of the barrack building for use as a visitors reception and for the provision of exhibition and guide facilities. Conservation works are also in progress on the 13th century shell keep and enclosing bawn wall. It is [1615] expected that the works will be completed and the site opened to visitors in 2001.
