Written Answers. - Coastal Protection.

101. Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the plans, if any, in place to man lighthouses in the interests of preventing drugs from being landed on our coastline; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6064/00]

Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources (Mr. Fahey): The management of lighthouses is a matter for the Commissioners of Irish Lights who have no functions in relation to drug interdiction. Those functions fall within the responsibility of the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
