296. Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Education and Science the plans, if any, he has to increase the food allowance for VTOS students which currently stands at 60p per day and has not been increased for many years. [25810/99]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin): The rate payable to VTOS participants is in line with that payable to participants in FÁS courses. It is my intention that this rate will continue to maintain parity with that of FÁS.
