Ahern asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will examine the situation in relation to a request for fencing from St. Canice's parochial school, Finglas, Dublin 11; if he will give immediate approval and action the request for fencing due to the vulnerable environment of the school with a derelict site nearby which is attracting anti-social behaviour and recent arson attacks on nearby schools; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin): An application has been received from the board of management of St. Canices parochial school, Finglas, for grant-aid towards the provision of security fencing.

My Department's planning and building unit is currently assessing this application and a decision in the matter will be communicated to the board of management as soon as possible.
