160. Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Finance when the next tranche of decentralisation will commence; if consideration will be given to Athy, County Kildare, in this programme in view of recent job losses in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19092/99]

Minister for Finance (Mr. McCreevy): I am currently considering proposals in respect of a new programme of decentralisation which I intend to discuss with my colleagues in Government in due course. In the meantime I note the case made for the inclusion of Athy in any new programme.
