[1264] 37. Mr. Quinn asked the Taoiseach the proposals, if any, the Government is considering for an honours system; the consultation process he will have regarding this system; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18902/99]

The Taoiseach: The Deputy will be aware that I have written to the main Opposition party leaders and have sent them a discussion paper on this topic. Discussions with the parties will commence as soon as representatives have been nominated by them for that purpose.
