910. Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has satisfied himself with the staffing levels of the examinations branch in Athlone, County Westmeath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18031/99]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin): The staffing levels of my Department's examination branch, in common with other areas of my Department, are kept under constant review. I assure the Deputy that I will continue to monitor the staffing and other resources that are necessary to allow the examinations branch to maintain and improve the excellence of its service.

I am very pleased that this year's State examinations ran very smoothly and great credit is due to the commitment and diligence of the staff in Athlone.
