908. Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the progress on the new VEC college in Drogheda, County Louth. [18029/99]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin): County Louth Vocational Education Committee has resubmitted stage 4 documents – detail design stage of my Department's design team procedures – in relation to the proposed new St. Laurence's community college, Drogheda.

Officials in my Department are currently considering the documents and will advise the VEC of their comments in due course. Meanwhile, the [581] VEC's design team is addressing issues in relation to individual rooms.

909. Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the commitment given to provide a primary school by September 2000 in the area of Little Pace, Castaheany, Clonee, Dublin 15; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18030/99]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin): My Department recently approved the provision of a new 16 classroom national school at Castaheany, Dublin 15 and the school authorities are currently in the process of negotiating the site purchase on behalf of my Department.

In the interim, it is expected that the board of management of the school will shortly be advised to appoint a full nominated design team for the project.
