Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason finance has not been made available for the funding of the Western Health Board's strategic plan for epilepsy sufferers which recommends the appointment of an additional post of consultant neurologist; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Cowen): The Western Health Board has submitted a strategic document on neurology services for its region. The proposal is under consideration in the context of overall service developments and competing priorities having regard to the availability of funding from 2000.
