89. Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide a remedial teacher service with effect from 1 September 1999 to St. Coleman's boys' national school, Macroom, County Cork. [14782/99]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin): St. Coleman's boys' national school already has access to a remedial teacher service on a shared basis.

My priority at present is to ensure that all schools which currently have no remedial service will receive the service with effect from September 1999. Arrangements to put this extension of service in place are currently being made by my Department.

I can assure the Deputy that the needs of St. Coleman's boys' national school, Macroom, will be fully considered in the event that additional resources become available to improve existing remedial services.
