[132] 85. Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he will accept an emergency application for funding to rebuild premises (details supplied) in Dublin 5 in view of the fact a fire destroyed the premises which houses local clubs in a very disadvantaged area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation (Dr. McDaid): The closing date for receipt of applications under the 1999 sports capital programme was Friday, 12 February 1999. Almost 1,900 applications were received by that date and these are currently being examined. In view of the large number of applications received and the level of work involved in evaluating them, I do not expect to be in a position to make final announcements on the 1999 round of grant allocations for some time yet.

It is not possible at this stage to accept a late application from the groups in question in respect of the current round of applications. It will, however, be open to them to apply for funding when the next round of allocations under the programme is advertised.
