Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if it is Government policy to implement the report of the task force on wild salmon; if his attention has been drawn to the concerns of coastal fishermen that the report is not being implemented; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources (Dr. Woods): As I outlined in my earlier reply to the House, my key policy objective is to secure the future for salmon in its own right and in the economic interests of our rural and coastal communities. I am progressing the necessary strategies to conserve, manage and enhance Irish salmon stocks through implementation of recommendations of the salmon management task force and other initiatives as necessary.
