Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the agencies under the auspices of his Department which have declared themselves to be year 2000 compliant; the agencies, if any, yet to make such a declaration; when he expects such a declaration, if any, to be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Agriculture and Food (Mr. Walsh): With regard to State bodies, the position is that on foot of a Government decision, a monitoring committee, chaired at assistant secretary level, was established in my Department in June 1998 to oversee year 2000 compliance in the relevant State agencies. All the agencies have been reporting year 2000 progress every two months and no major difficulties have been encountered.

The National Milk Agency, the Western Development Commission, An Bord Glas and the Irish Horse Board are year 2000 compliant. The target dates for year 2000 compliance for the remaining agencies are outlined in the following tabular statement:
