Dáil Éireann - Volume 503 - 20 April, 1999

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

[756] 603. Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason a contract is not signed and agreed between a school and a temporary teacher (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10229/99]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin): As the board of management is deemed to be the employer, the signing and agreement of a contract is a matter between the board of management and the teacher concerned. My Department is not a party to the contract and does not maintain records of such a contract.

604. Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the ongoing shortage of teachers in St. Mary's central school, Killencullen, County Tipperary; if the matter will be resolved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10282/99]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin): As the officials of my Department have been unable to trace the school at the name and

address stated, I would ask the Deputy to revert to me with the roll number of the school so that the matter of staffing may then be examined.
