Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science the amount of money allocated to each of the institutes of technology under the New Opportunities for Women Programme in each of the past five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8967/99] Mr. Martin Mr. Martin Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin): The New Opportunities for Women, NOW, programme is a European Community initiative aimed at facilitating the greater participation of women in the labour market. Support is channelled through two main mechanisms; the NOW co-ordinator, based in the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and the NOW support structure, provided by the National Women's Council of Ireland, formerly know as the Council for the Status of Women.
