88. Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the funding provided to Roscommon County Council for the ongoing maintenance of sewerage schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7429/99]

Minister for the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Dempsey): There is no funding available from my Department specifically for the maintenance of sewerage schemes. However, a grant of £7,809,126 from the Local Government Fund has been allocated to Roscommon County Council in 1999 in respect of its general purposes needs. It is open to the local authority to use [427] money from this allocation for maintenance of sewerage schemes.
