101. Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the purpose and cost of any research on public opinion undertaken in his Department in 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4677/99]

Minister for Finance (Mr. McCreevy): The only research on public opinion undertaken by my Department in 1998 was a research survey carried out by Lansdowne Market Research in June 1998 on the level of public awareness of the euro. The contract was awarded following a tender process and cost £19,958.95.
