651. Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the proposals, if any, he has for making Galway a smoke free fuels area. [28340/98]

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government (Mr. D. Wallace): Air quality data in all monitored urban areas and the need for any further extension of the ban on marketing, sale and distribution of bituminous coal are kept under ongoing review. I have no proposals to select additional areas for restriction at this time.
