Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Health and Children if admission for cataract surgery for a person (details supplied) in County [374] Mayo will be expedited in view of the fact it will be 12 to 16 months before she will be called from the waiting list at University College Hospital Galway. Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Cowen): The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Mayo in this instance is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
