471. Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Finance the resources and personnel available to transpose EU Directives into Irish law; if he has satisfied himself with the rate of progress of this implementation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1621/99]

Minister for Finance (Mr. McCreevy): Because the EU Directives which have to be transposed into Irish law cover a wide range of activities in my Department and in some of the offices under the aegis of my Department, the resources required for their transposition varies. I am satisfied, however, that the necessary resources will in all cases be devoted to ensure that any directives not currently implemented are fully implemented on time.
