Minister for Defence (Mr. M. Smith): Arrangements for the recruitment of medical staff are put in place when required. Competitions were held recently for medical officers and pharmacists and it is intended that appointments from these competitions will be made in 1999. Furthermore, a competition was held for nurses earlier this year, as a result of which three nurses were assigned to the medical corps.

Proposals for recruitment of physiotherapists are also currently under consideration.
