Dáil Éireann - Volume 498 - 09 December, 1998 Business of Dáil. An Ceann Comhairle Séamus Pattison 340 [340] An Ceann Comhairle: Before the commencement of Question Time I call the Taoiseach who wishes to make a short comment. The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern The Taoiseach: This morning, in reply to a query on the Order of Business, I informed the House that the Bill to amend the compellability of witnesses legislation would be circulated in the course of the day. That was the best information I had available to me at the time. I have since been informed by the Department of Finance that although it had been the intention to circulate the Bill today it would not be possible to do so until tomorrow morning. Mr. Quinn Mr. Quinn Mr. Quinn: I appreciate what the Taoiseach said. Can he offer a reason for having to make that statement? The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern The Taoiseach: The Government discussed this matter yesterday morning. When the Bill went back to the Department of Finance there was not enough time available to take account of the Government's comments. Mr. Quinn Mr. Quinn Mr. Quinn: I thank the Taoiseach for his courtesy. Dáil Éireann 498 Business of Dáil. General Debate 19981209
