142. Mr. McGahon asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of cyclists charged with riding bicycles without lights to date in 1998. [22445/98]

Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. O'Donoghue): I am informed by the Garda authorities that details regarding the number of prosecutions taken for riding bicycles without lights in respect of 1998 to date are not readily available.

However, statistics for previous years are published in the annual report of the Garda Síochána copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library.
