Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will sanction funding for a special computer to assist pupils with learning disabilities in Listellick national school, Tralee, County Kerry, in view of the fact the provision of a computer was not catered for in the recent allocation under the IT 2000 initiative. [22864/98] Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin) Micheál Martin Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin): I am aware of the application to which the Deputy refers. The Deputy will be aware that under the IT 2000 initiative, my Department has allocated £3,305 to the school in question to facilitate the purchase of computer equipment. I have also designated a further £250,000 under this initiative to assist with the provision of computer equipment for pupils with special needs integrated into mainstream primary schools. 788 My Department is currently assessing applications received for assistance under this measure.
