Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance the amount of Structural Funds and other European funds spent in each of the country's regions in each of the years from 1990 to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. On the basis of information available to my Department from lead Departments for the Operational Programmes, estimates of Structural Fund expenditure under CSF 1989-93, CSF 1994-99 and Community Initiatives in the regions are as follows: CSF 1989-93 including Community Initiatives (seven regions)
CSF 1994-1999 including Community Initiatives (eight regions)
The data for 1996, 1997 and 1998 is based on forecasts supplied by the lead Departments to my Department and is subject to review. The Cohesion Fund is not allocated on a sub-regional basis. However, Cohesion Fund receipts on a national basis from the establishment of the fund in 1993 to date are: 1993, £41.6 million; 1994, £68.3 million; 1995, £101.8 million; 1996, £137.1 million; 1997, £162.7 million; 1998 (to end September), £56.2 milllion.
