Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be given orthodontic treatment having regard to his reply to previous parliamentary questions and to a letter from the then Minister of 23 October 1996 and considering that the Western Health Board gave an undertaking in 1996 to provide any necessary dental treatment [1125] once it had recruited a replacement dentist for the Belmullet area, County Mayo. Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Cowen): As the provision of orthodontic treatment to eligible persons in County Mayo is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board, I have asked the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
