Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for Health and Children if, in view of the extremely important work done by the National Child Minding Association of Ireland and the importance of further developing that work, funding will be provided to cover the salaries for the association's chief executive, administrator and a full-time secretary. [17811/98] Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children (Mr. Fahey) Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children (Mr. Fahey) Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children (Mr. Fahey): I understand that the National Childminding Association of Ireland will receive funding of £23,000 from the Eastern Health Board for 1998 to include a once-off grant of £8,000. The Eastern Health Board has met with the association and has sought further information from them. On receipt of same the matter will be further examined. I have also asked officials of my Department to meet with representatives of the association to discuss the matter of additional funding which the Deputy has raised.
