126. Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the plans, if any, she has to introduce a home energy efficiency scheme to insulate homes here similar to schemes operating in Northern Ireland and Great Britain; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17767/98]

Minister of State in the Department of Public Enterprise (Mr. Jacob): I have no plans to introduce a home energy efficiency scheme. The Energy Advisory Board has commissioned a study into the structure, content and funding of a national energy efficiency programme from 2000-5.

The outcome of that study will inform my decision on the matter.
