Dáil Éireann - Volume 489 - 22 April, 1998

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

208. Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will allow a school (details supplied) to retain a teacher in view of the fact that this teacher provides an important male role model in the school as many of the children have no father figure; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9649/98]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin): Final decisions have not yet been taken on the staffing arrangements for primary schools for the 1998-99 school year.

However, I have asked my officials to review the position at the school to which the Deputy refers as soon as staffing arrangements have been finalised, and to correspond with the board of management directly in the matter.
