Written Answers. - Taxi By-Laws.

[1482] 266. Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will have arrangements made for the completion and issue of the appointed taxi-stand by-laws for Waterford city in view of the fact that the ongoing delays regarding the completion and issue of the by-laws have a knock-on effect in dealing with other policy decisions by Waterford City Council relating to the control and regulation of small public service vehicles, including the issue of new PSV licences; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6924/98]

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Molloy): Draft by-laws in relation to Waterford Appointed Stands (Street Service Vehicles) have been received from the Garda Commissioner for examination by my Department.

I anticipate that formal by-laws should be made by the Commissioner and approved by the Minister for the Environment and Local Government at an early date.
