119. Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food his views on the reported milk war in the west of Ireland; and the concerns, if any, he has on the tendencies to monopolise in the supply of milk. [6914/98]

Minister for Agriculture and Food (Mr. Walsh): I am aware of the matter to which the Deputy refers. This is a commerical matter between the companies concerned and which, as far as I am aware, has now been resolved.

Competition policy in the State is governed by the Competition Acts and is not a matter for my Department.
