Mr. Allen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she has satisfied herself that the take-over of chemists (details supplied) by a United Kingdom group (details supplied) will not bring about job losses; and the assurances, if any, she has sought from the group on this issue. Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment (Miss Harney): Because the financial thresholds specified in the Mergers and Takeovers (Control) Acts, 1978 to 1996, were not met, the Acts did not apply to the specific takeover referred to by the Deputy. However, the parties informed me that they envisaged no job losses in HCR.
