Burke asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will make a grant available to Loughrea swimming [600] pool committee to match their funds to provide a swimming pool at a site provided in Loughrea, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Dempsey): There are no proposals before my Department in relation to a swimming pool in Loughrea. The provision of £4 million in my Department's Vote for 1998 for the construction and refurbishment of swimming pools is fully committed to projects under construction or fully approved and on which work will commence later in the year.
