Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food whether the disposal of a site, off a family farm to a family member, constitutes an impediment to qualification for farm retirement pension where the pension is awarded prior to disposal of the site; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Agriculture and Food (Mr. Walsh): Under the scheme of early retirement from farming it is a requirement that the transferee continue to farm the holding the subject of the pension. Where a request for a disposal of a site is received, including to a family member, each case is examined on its merits. [556]
