131. Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will extend the scope of the higher education grants scheme to cover students pursuing the higher diploma in public health studies at UCC and UCD. [2761/98]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin): The courses referred to by the Deputy are already covered under the terms of the higher education grants scheme. Students who are not in receipt of sponsorship from a health board or other assistance from other public funds may apply for a means tested fees and maintenance grant from their local authority.
