938. Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science the current status in relation to a school extension (details supplied); when tenders will be opened; the timescale for actual building; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2147/98]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin): Tenders are currently being evaluated within my Department for the proposed extension at the school referred to by the Deputy. Subject to the satisfactory completion of this process and the lodgment of the local contribution, a contract can then be awarded and works can begin on site. At this point, it is not possible for me to give a precise date for commencement of work on site. However, I expect that works should begin within the next few weeks. My Department will keep in touch with the school on the matter.
