480. Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Finance his views on young persons under the age of 18 years being allowed to bet with the tote; and, if so, the action, if any, he will take on the matter. [2009/98]

496. Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Finance the plans, if any, he has to review the decision whereby children under 18 years of age are legally permitted to bet with the tote; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1262/98]

Minister for Finance (Mr. McCreevy): At the moment both the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform and my Department are examining the issue of young people betting with the tote. I am not in position to say at this stage what the outcome of the examination will be.
