320. Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 14 of 16 December 1997, she will outline the progress, if any, made in her discussions with STAD on the proposed funding by the Government at the High Court case against British Nuclear Fuels. Minister of State at the Department of Public Enterprise (Mr. Jacob): The Government has offered a revised package of assistance to the residents relating to research activities mainly. I have met with the residents on a number of occasions and have discussed with them and their representatives the nature of this offer.

Provision has been made for payments to the residents in my Department's 1998 Estimate and discussions are ongoing with regard to arrangements for payment of the funds.
