Mrs. Owen Mrs. Owen
226. Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department has received an application from Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9 regarding the provision of a migraine clinic in that hospital; and, if so, if he will make funding available for this clinic. [20497/97]
Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Cowen) Brian Cowen
Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Cowen): I have received representations on behalf of the Irish Migraine Association regarding the need for a headache and migraine clinic. I understand that the association has also been in communication with Beaumont Hospital on the matter. However, to date I have received no specific proposals from the hospital in this regard.
On receipt of such proposals, they will fall to be considered within the context of the hospital's own priorities and the many competing demands for resources within the acute health sector.
