463. Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a change of name deed poll application will be dealt with for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that the matter has been ongoing for over two years. [14256/97]

Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. O'Donoghue): I am informed that inquiries with the Deed Poll office indicate that an application for the execution of a deed poll was made by solicitors representing the person concerned on 22 August 1997. I am also informed that the solicitors have been asked to clarify some matters and it is expected that the matter will be finalised shortly.
